The New Briggate High Street Heritage Action Zone is seeking an Oral Historian/ Oral Histories Practitioner to give one of Leeds city centre’s best-loved streets a voice that will be heard by future generations.
The project will create a unique audio resource that will feature new recordings of local people talking and sharing stories about life on New Briggate over the years, uncovering and sharing Hidden Histories from tailoring and tattoos to performance and protest.
The resource – part of Leeds City Council’s and Historic England’s New Briggate High Street Heritage Action Zone project, and delivered in partnership with East Street Arts will inspire sound pieces and art works produced by the project’s Cultural Programme, and will contribute to the legacy of the project, preserving people’s stories for posterity in archive form and providing a valuable link between the Leeds of today and tomorrow.
